Thomas Earnshaw is revered as a legend and pioneer in the field of watchmaking. Born in Manchester, England, in 1749, he was famous for his work in refining and improving the marine chronometers of the time. These were the marine chronometers, crucial to the voyages of Royal Navy ships as they scoured the globe in the golden age of English history of science and exploration. None more than Chronometer no. 506, worn by HMS Beagle which took Charles Darwin on his trip around the world to inspire his groundbreaking study of evolution, “On the Origin of Species”.

Earnshaw Admiral Jervis
Presentation
With a guilloché dial, the Earnshaw Admiral Jervis also known by its name “ES-8134-44 is made up of three major complications:
A date indicator at 3 o’clock as well as a day indicator at 9 o’clock. Both complications are presented in the form of a retrograde dial. This is a non-circular display system, where the needle does not complete a full turn, but travels from point A to point B. At the end of the month or week, the The needle only performs a “backtracking” to the base point, hence the name “retrograde”.
At 6 o’clock, there is a Rotating Cage with three branches, adorned with a central screwed bridge. It is superimposed on the balance of the watch, giving a breathtaking look to this timepiece …
Automatic & manual winding movement
Presence of a stop-second
The indexes in Arabic numerals are intelligently encrusted “under the apparent complications”, to make the whole more harmonious. On the back, there is a transparent case back, allowing you to appreciate the watch mechanism and its oscillating weight bearing the manufacture logo.
As for the caliber, it benefits from two very appreciated functions: a stop-second – allowing the total stop of the second when setting the time of the watch – as well as a manual winding, always very appreciated in addition to the automatic winding.
Finally, we will appreciate the butterfly clasp, one of the best closure systems for watch buckles.
