Presentation
Measuring 44mm in diameter, the watch is built around a solid, well-constructed case with a flat, scratch-resistant sapphire lens. A crown set at 2 o’clock has a star sign as a badge of the US Air Force badge marking his eponymous plane.
Each component has been purposefully designed, drawing inspiration from the Harrier XV741 itself. Applied indexes are generously coated with Swiss lume, resulting in a dial that is not only bold and innovative, but clear and legible.
The passage of seconds is indicated by a personalized custom disc located just below the 3 o’clock position. The 24-hour sub-dial was constructed with a series of layers and indexes that were individually faceted and applied with brush and polishing finishes.
Details
Under the hood, the XV741 is powered by a modified 21 jewel, 21,600 vph, Miyota 8 series automatic movement. A custom self-winding rotor has been designed to echo the Harrier’s distinguished Rolls Royce Pegasus engine.
The dial is an intriguing blend of depth and detail. We find matt white indexes, matched with great success on the anthracite grey dial and the light gray tips of the hands. These colors were obviously not chosen at random. They refer to the cockpits of the Harrier XV741.
Inspired by the code name Operation “Admiral Blue” given to the XV741’s participation in the air race, a comfortable leather and nylon strap been designed to attach the case to the wrist.
