Presentation
Featuring a guilloche dial, the Sea-gull M171S also known by its Anglo-Saxon name “Flying Wheel” is composed of three major complications:
A day indicator at 3 o’clock and a date indicator at 9 o’clock. Both complications are presented as a retrograde hand. This is a non-circular display system, where the hand does not perform a complete turn, but a path from point A to point B. At the end of the month or week, the the needle alone makes a “backward” to the base point, hence the name “retrograde”.
At 6 o’clock, there is a rotating three-pointed Cage with a central screwed bridge and the inscription “Automatic Flying Wheel”. It is superimposed on the balance of the watch by offering a breathtaking rendering to this timepiece …
Self-winding and manual movement
Presence of a stop-second
The indexes in Arabic numerals are intelligently encrusted “under the complications” apparent, to make the whole more harmonious. On the back, there is a transparent background, to appreciate the mechanism of the watch and its oscillating weight emblazoned with the logo of the manufacture.
As for the ST2505 caliber, it has two very popular features: a stop-second – allowing the total stop of the second when setting the time of the watch – and a manual winding, always very popular in addition automatic winding.
Finally, we will appreciate the butterfly clasp, one of the best closure systems for watch buckles.
