Possessing the same qualities as its rival, the Orient Mako (daytime indicator, unidirectional bezel, solid construction, and waterproofness at 200 meters), the Sea-gull Ocean Star 816.523 is part of the Divers Watch category include “diver” of the Chinese manufacture.
A notorious detail however marks the difference with the Mako, it is on the glass equipped with a small magnifying glass magnifying the date function at 3 o’clock.

Well received in time.
First contact a little disappointing: the level of quality felt, and for a comparable price, I find it below my two seiko (presage and skx): the metal case and bracelet seems softer and the crown a little frail . The hands are more beautiful than the skx, but less finely worked than the presage. And the 60 clicks of the telescope lock well but sound cheap.
The finish of the watch is however impeccable, everything is well aligned, well adjusted, the dial is very beautiful, the alternation of brushed and polished is well worth the watch, and anti glare is better than seiko.
The cyclops, I do not like that at the base, but he does his duty, though he could have offered a little more magnification.
Once the magnifying glass row, and watch on the wrist, it is very pleasant to wear and not so heavy, and it has a real presence on the wrist, with its generous diameter but not too much, the play of light on the metal parts and especially this beautiful blue which varies from electric blue to navy blue depending on the light …
Over all, I am very satisfied, even if I wait to see in the long term if, despite its somewhat light aspects, it is as good in time as my seiko!
