The British house unveils a new version of its Vintage Aviator collection, the Flyboy Centenary, also known as code AV-4061-03. AVI-8 FLYBOY CENTENARY AV-4061-03
Presentation
The AV-4061-03 series is an iconic edition of the British brand Avi-8. Made of 316L quality stainless steel, the case of this Flyboy is corrosion resistant thanks to its low carbon structure.
At 4:30, the Japanese movement 8218 suggests a nice complication: a small second is housed, providing maximum visibility to the hour hand and minutes! This movement from the Miyota manufacture is also visible on the back, thanks to a transparent caseback.
Finally, the date display at 3 o’clock is a subtle complication … but still useful.
Details
The dial is an intriguing blend of depth and detail. There are fluorescent white indexes, matched with great success on the black dial and the white tips of the hands. These colors were obviously not chosen at random. They refer to the wings of British aviation aircraft in the mid-twentieth century …
Another exciting detail is the 3-hours serrated crown is stamped with the Royal Air Force logo. Easy to grasp and perfectly proportioned to the case of the watch, it highlights with great success the case of 43 mm covered with a sapphire crystal.
Finally, fans will appreciate a real hand-stitched leather bracelet, offering a solid and comfortable on the long run: enjoy!
